The Boundary Bay Cross Country Meet raises awareness for Hannah's Heroes.

This past Friday September 30th over 1000 kids from thirteen elementary schools took Part in the 7th annual Boundary Bay Cross country meet at Centennial Beach Park.

The meet is hosted by The Run Inn Delta and the Sacred Heart School parents and features 12 separate races for boys and girls from grades two to grades 7. The kids ran between 1300 and 1800 meters depending on their age and every kid gets a BBQ after their race hosted by the TOOBS of Delta.

"We had a perfect day for racing" says Kevin Ridley the meet director." “We were very excited by the great turnout and we were so lucky that it was a sunny warm day for the kids to run"

The Meet was sponsored by New Balance, Muscle Memory, Sungod Physio, DNA Data, Brent DeerHeim Golf, Service Master, the TOOBS, Save On Foods, and The Run Inn Delta.

"We have to thank all of our sponsors who gave time and money to help put on this event. We could not do this without our sponsors and all of our volunteers who helped out on the day".

The event is also a fundraiser for the Hannah's Heroes Foundation and every child who ran donated one dollar to the charity and with the sponsor the meet ended up raising about $1600.00 for the local charity.

"This is a great event for our local community and it's great to see more of the local schools show up this year. We had five local elementary schools and our goals is to get all the south delta schools to participate next year", says Ridley.

The main goal of the meet is to encourage as much participation as possible so we can introduce kids of all abilities to a fun day of fitness.Shop local! It's good for our Community!
